Scotiabank and The Salvation Army
A Community Partnership

On Tuesday June 26, at Hallelujah Point in Stanley Park, history was made yet again when representatives from Scotiabank presented the keys to two new Chevy Venture vans to The Salvation Army. Hallelujah Point, which is located across from the Totem Poles, is considered to be the unofficial birthplace of The Salvation Army in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Through its commitment to community involvement, Scotiabank has donated $75,000 to The Salvation Army's $10 million dollar Circle of Caring Capital Campaign. These new Community Crisis Response Vehicles will be used to support the Emergency Disaster Services work of the organization throughout British Columbia.

On hand for the presentation was Scotiabank's Vice-President for British Columbia and the Yukon Territory, Tom Malone, as well as Trudy Hofley, Scotiabank's District Vice-President for Vancouver & Northern BC. Scotiabank representatives were joined by Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Roed, The Salvation Army’s Divisional Commander for the BC South Division, and Major Robert Ratcliff, the Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army's BC North Region.

Several representatives who have been helped by The Salvation Army's Community Crisis Response work were also in attendance and available for interviews.

Immediately following the presentation, Army personnel drove one of the vehicles to Prince George where it is to be used as a support vehicle to The Army's Emergency & Disaster Relief program in northern British Columbia. The second vehicle will be deployed to Victoria and will serve the community crisis needs on Vancouver Island.
